CSW66 Adopted Agreed Conclusions and A Way Forward

Yet another year’s full engagement in contributing to the national CSW input process has been concluded when the Commission adopted Agreed Conclusions at its 66th sitting last Friday on the 25th of March.

The theme of this year’s CSW resonated well with the thematic focus of the activities of Gender Concerns International as it focused on the vital role of women and girls as agents of change for sustainable development. We are happy to have been able to working together with Dutch Civil Society Organizations on Agreed Conclusions and joining side events.

The Agreed Conclusions adopted by the Member States aim to promote full and equal participation and leadership of women and girls. The Commission called for a focus on gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction policies and programmes. It emphasized the relationship among achieving gender equality and the full, effective and accelerated implementation of the Beijing Declaration and achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Gender Concerns International believes that gender equality and inclusive electoral and socio-economic practices are vital for the establishment of a functioning democracy.

We reiterate the importance of women’s leadership as a catalyst for change and their crucial role in sustainable development and conservation efforts together with our partners and other stakeholders.
