Humanitarian Help: Myanmar Struck by Cyclone Mocha

In the aftermath of a natural disaster, often women and girls are found disproportionately impacted. The destruction, by Cyclone Mocha, of several states in Myanmar, exacerbates various risks like rise in GBV, increasing gender-specific barriers and inequalities such as access to healthcare and reproductive health services.

An urgent need for support from local and international donors is necessary and the local Civil Society Organisations must be supported urgently. The CSOs have expressed their concerns about the aid distribution supplies disturbances by the military. We urge the international community to assess the needs of women and girls in food supply mechanisms and in the provision of shelter, water and medicine within the cyclone-affected communities. Women organisations must be supported to reach out to their partners and other women in relief and rehabilitation efforts!
