Persistent Gender Bias: A Decade of Slow Progress and Disappointment

UN reports on persistence of gender bias despite global efforts and awareness campaigns that it remained largely unchanged over the past decade, with nearly 90% of people holding at least one bias against women.

Observing the lack of substantial progress is rather disappointing. The biases continue to manifest in various detrimental ways, from the underrepresentation of women in leadership roles to persistent wage gaps, and the alarming acceptance of violence against women. This stagnation reflects deeply ingrained social norms that undermine women's rights and hinder gender equality globally.

Gender Concerns International calls for immediate and robust action to combat these biases. Governments, organizations, and individuals must intensify their efforts to challenge and change these harmful norms. Education, policy reforms, and increased representation of women in all spheres are crucial steps toward achieving true gender equality.
